Studies on Antibiotic Producers of Korean Soil Microbes (3)

Abstract

|
|
To find antibiotics among the microbes from Korean soil, a strain which had a high antibacterial activity againstgram-positive bacteria was isolated. As morphological and physiologcal characters on several media and utilization of carbon sources were examined, it was identified as one of Streptomyces species according to International Streptomyces Project method. An antibacterial component was isolated from the fermentation broth and purified with silica-gel column chromatography. Attempts were made to determine its chemical properties.
